About the Glimmer Ramones

- Tania Waisberg and Facundo Lujan (a.k.a. The Glimmer Ramones) started their career in Argentina’s renowned commercials production industry. They have been sharing their life and their love for documentary filmmaking since 1994.
- Tania Waisberg has worked as an art assistant, production coordinator and second assistant director in several commercials including worldwide campaigns for Toyota Motor Corporation, Braun / Oral B and Direct TV with directors like Steven Johnson, Charlie Mainardi, Pucho Mentasti and Peluca. Tania has performed key production duties in international commercials shot in Argentina by Cielo Films L.A. and Lowe/Lintas N.Y. In addition, she has worked in Mariano Galperin’s second feature film, “Chicos Ricos [Rich Kids]” (1999), as a key art assistant.
- Facundo Lujan has worked in more than ninety commercials in Argentina. Between 2001 and 2002 he directed three music videos, currently in rotation in Much Music, and MTV Latin America, for Argentinean rockers“Los 7 Delfines” and Karina Van Ron. Among others, Facundo has produced commercials for Procter & Gamble (Saatchi & Saatchi), AOL (WCJ /Young & Rubicam), Toyota Motor Co. of Japan (Dentsu), Budweiser Argentina (Euro/RSCG), and Volkswagen (BBDO) working with international awarded directors Charlie Mainardi and Peluca between 1999 and 2001.
- The Glimmer Ramones first documentary; “Portrait of Artists as Latino Immigrants,” screened at Detroit Docs, Anchorage Film Festival, Wine Country Film Festival and Calgary International film festival among others. The documentary was presented at Video I on KTEH, San Jose’s (CA) PBS station. In 2006, “Portraits…” won “Best Latino Film” at the Sacramento International Film Festival and “Best Biography Film” at the San Francisco Women Film Festival.
- Facundo and Tania moved to the US in 2001 to pursue an MFA in Motion Pictures and Television at the Academy of Art University. Since 2002, Facundo is the Senior Video Editor and Special Projects Coordinator for the Cyber Campus Video Department at the Academy of Art University.
- Currently The Glimmer Ramones are developing a new documentary that explores the life of the late American Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer. The documentary focuses on his life in Argentina between 1959 and 1984, his decisive role in the development of modern Latin American Jewry, and his rise as a human rights leader during the dark period of Argentina’s “Dirty War.”
- They are also preparing their first photography exhibition, titled “In the Morning.” The pictures will be showed in the gallery of the “Escuela Freudiana of Buenos Aires” during the month of September 2011.
